Botany Painting
About the logo mark
Botany Painting is an original art course that originated in Japan in 2017.
Using plants as a motif, colors are carefully layered. While cherishing this simple joy, the course has gradually expanded.
The start of the partner instructor system, the licensing to Taiwan, the birth of professional instructors—at each turning point, the logo mark has changed to reflect the sentiments of the time.
Here, we introduce the background behind each mark.
Mark I
Fern Origin
The first logo mark was shaped like a Bodhi tree leaf.
The Bodhi tree has long been cherished as a symbol of learning and enlightenment. We incorporated our respect for plants and the joy of starting art into the delicate veins of its leaves.
This mark was later passed on to our partner instructors for their free use. As the number of teachers grew and Botany Painting spread across various regions, this small leaf quietly watched over this grassroots movement.
Mark II
Lotus Prestige
As the course expanded, licensing for professional instructors and development in Taiwan began. Along with this, a more dignified mark was needed.
The delicate lotus flower design is inspired by traditional Indian block printing (woodblock stamps).
Lotuses bloom pure and clean from the mud. In the East, they have long been depicted as symbols of purity and rebirth. This mark naturally blends the warmth of handcraft with a dignified elegance.
Mark III
Lotus Global
And now, we have updated the Botany Painting logo.
We removed any unnecessary lines, creating a simple shape that anyone can recognize as a "lotus flower." We aimed for a logo whose beauty is immediately apparent, even to those who don't understand Japanese or aren't familiar with art.
Botany Painting will continue to reach people all over the world. This new logo will be its new face for that endeavor.
The three marks were each created in different eras, but the underlying essence remains unchanged. A love of plants, a love of layering colors, and a desire to share that joy with others.
Botany Painting will continue to be that kind of art.
